HealthSparq’s General Manager, Mark Menton, recently shared with Health IT Answers why payer-provider collaboration is necessary to address the changing healthcare landscape.

In the article, he provided three key opportunity areas that provide great starting points for deeper payer and provider relationships. Check out this infographic for a quick summary.

Member experience

Our survey with 100 executives from hospitals and health systems shows that 92% of providers want greater collaboration with health plans, especially with member experience. Members need to access data to make healthcare choices and decisions. Plans and providers have an opportunity to make healthcare less fragmented and confusing by making the data more accurate and consistent.

Value-based care

More than half of health systems (55%) would like health plans to be more transparent about data shared for value-based care over the next 12 months. Payers and providers will need to align on goals for greater cost transparency and data sharing to address this.

In-network providers

Partnering with providers allows health plans to help members find their provider match while meeting utilization management goals. This collaboration can help ensure members can get high-quality care from the right provider that meets their unique needs and preferences.

Collaboration is critical to the success of advancement and innovation in healthcare. It isn’t always the easy road but it is the necessary one to address the changing healthcare landscape – and it has the potential to greatly benefit patients, health plans, and providers alike.
