PORTLAND, Ore., March 19, 2019 – HealthSparq, a technology company based in Portland, Oregon, announced it will be a Gold Sponsor for the upcoming Patient Experience Forum, taking place May 1-3 at Harvard Medical School Conference Center in Boston. The sponsorship is part of HealthSparq’s What’s the Fix? (#WTFix) initiative and will enable The Patient Experience Symposium to offer two scholarships for patients to attend the event.

“The mission of What’s the Fix? is to bring patients front and center in health care conversations and we believe having the patient perspective at industry conferences is important to that mission,” said Heather Burton, director of marketing for HealthSparq. “We’re excited to partner with The Patient Experience Symposium to invite patients to join and add their voices to those of providers, administrators, payers and others. The Patient Experience Symposium already has some amazing patient speakers on stage and we’re proud to add more to the audience.”

The sponsorship will enable The Patient Experience Symposium to reimburse $1,200 in patients’ travel expenses and provide them with full access to all events throughout the conference. Recipients will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Need of support to attend the event
  • Current and past work towards driving change in health care
  • Passion to drive change in health care
  • Personal health care story
  • Potential to gain personally and professionally from attending the conference

Scholarship applications will be accepted between March 19-31, 2019, and the selected recipients will be notified on April 1, 2019.

The Patient Experience Symposium, in its third year, brings together health care professionals, patient advocates, practitioners, educators, thought leaders and patients who are transforming the patient experience, and changing the way people experience health care.

“Our conference’s diverse topics and distinguished speakers will hold the audience’s attention captive with accounts of best practices and tools to overcome systemic obstacles in a health care system resistant to change for so long,” said Bill Doherty, event director of the Patient Experience Symposium. “We are excited to be working with the What’s the Fix initiative to provide patient scholarships to attend; it is only fitting to have patients participate in the dialog at our annual conference.”

About What’s the Fix?

What’s the Fix? (#WTFix) is a movement focused on helping the health care industry learn from people. We’re not aiming to fix health care at the macro-level with What’s the Fix?, we’re looking to inspire people to commit to making the changes and to fix the areas they can. We do this by collecting and promoting patient stories that connect us and the health care industry as a whole to the actual people that the industry serves. About The Patient Experience Symposium

The Patient Experience Symposium is a gathering of healthcare professionals, patient advocates, practitioners, educators, thought leaders, and patients who are transforming the patient experience, and changing the way people experience healthcare.

Our distinguished faculty provide insights as to what impact the patient experience has on both quality and economic improvements, what role leadership plays in creating the right culture for patient-centered care, and how to identify, evaluate and prioritize innovations that can quickly touch the lives of patients and practitioners.

And, unlike other conferences on this topic, patients share their personal stories, providing a real-world perspective on patient experience. Our attendees leave invigorated and inspired, with new tools and strategies to make patient experience the best it can be!
