HealthSparq’s What’s The Fix? Wins Prestigious Ragan Healthcare PR and Marketing Award for Patient-Focused Content
PORTLAND, Ore. — HealthSparq, Inc., a Portland, Oregon-based technology company dedicated to helping people make smarter healthcare choices, was recently named winner of Ragan’s 2018 Healthcare PR and Marketing Awards in the Patient-Focused Content category for its What’s the Fix? (#WTFix) campaign.
Ragan Communications and PR Daily run 11 awards programs each year, including the prestigious Digital PR and Social Media Awards. Judged by globally regarded experts and featuring multiple categories, these programs honor the top work in communications, PR, marketing and media.
Ragan’s Healthcare PR and Marketing Awards celebrates teams, organizations and consultants who have redefined the field with their groundbreaking work. As a winner in the program, HealthSparq joins an elite group of past winners, including VSP Vision Care, McLean Hospital, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center, ATI Physical Therapy, Genentech and New York-Presbyterian.
HealthSparq was chosen from a wide pool of entries to receive first prize in Patient-Focused Content for the ingenuity and impact of its work on What’s the Fix?
Most healthcare conferences focus on industry insiders talking to each other. What’s the Fix? started as a conference in 2017 to help the industry learn from real people with real stories of overcoming healthcare challenges and driving change to the system as a result. The conference has since evolved to become a movement about being human, being empathetic and using storytelling to inspire and empower.
The ongoing storytelling features everyday people and how they turned their ‘WTF’ healthcare moments into positive change. People share their stories on social media and featured blogs, building a community that always focuses on the individuals who are driving change and how institutions are reacting to that change.
“Out of many outstanding submissions, we found HealthSparq’s work to truly set a new standard of excellence for all corporate communications professionals. We congratulate them and look forward to seeing their future successes in this field,” said Justine Figueroa, senior marketing coordinator for awards programs at Ragan Communications.
“To truly innovate and improve the system will require us to recognize our shortcomings as an industry and realize that we need to embrace those who are fighting to transform it from the outside,” said Mark Menton, HealthSparq CEO. “I am proud of our team for amplifying the voices of those who need to be heard. We are honored that people continue to share with us their stories of healthcare challenges and their hopes for change.”
HealthSparq’s win was announced via social media, and the winning team will also be recognized for its accomplishment in a special write-up on PR Daily’s internationally-read news website.
At HealthSparq, we help people make smarter healthcare choices by partnering with health plans to provide members with cost and quality information about doctors, hospitals and medical services, based on their individual benefits. We put people at the core of everything we do by conducting continuous usability testing, eliciting consumer feedback to enhance product development, hosting industry panels featuring everyday people, and bringing human stories to the forefront through our #WTFix campaign. Using these insights, we create solutions to help people understand and navigate the healthcare system better than ever before.
