Improving Healthcare With Patient Voices: #WTFix Hosts Virtual Panel Discussion August 11

Portland, Ore., July 17, 2020 – HealthSparq, as part of its What’s the Fix? (#WTFix) initiative, which focuses on bringing patient voices to the forefront of healthcare, will host the first-ever #WTFix Virtual Patient Panel, giving healthcare industry professionals the chance to hear unfiltered opinions from a group of patients on a variety of topics. The discussion will cover experiences with providers and insurance companies, dealing with COVID-19, facing inequities and ideas for how to improve the system.

“Within the last few years HealthSparq has hosted a number of patient and consumer panels at healthcare industry events to put the patient voice front and center for those of us working in the system,” said Heather Burton, HealthSparq’s VP of Marketing. “We’re excited to take this opportunity to bring one of our patient panels virtual, open to everyone, so all those who want to hear directly from patients about their healthcare experiences—and their ideas for how healthcare can improve—can join in.”

The discussion moderator, Alison Greco, PsyD, HealthSparq’s Director of Product, UX and Research, will explore the topic of Social Determinants of Health (SDOH), asking panelists to share their experiences with disparities based on socioeconomic status, neighborhood, race, education, employment and other factors that continue to impact on the well-being of the U.S. population. This conversation will be a unique look into the past and current experiences of patients, so health plans can actively work to improve for the future.

About What’s the Fix?
What’s the Fix? (#WTFix) is a movement focused on helping the healthcare industry learn from people. We’re not aiming to fix healthcare at the macro-level with What’s the Fix?, we’re looking to inspire people to commit to making the changes and to fix the areas they can. We do this by collecting and promoting patient stories that connect us and the healthcare industry as a whole to the actual people that the industry serves.
